Introduction In recent years, the public has become increasingly aware of the importance of preventing further loss of wildlife and preserving our remaining biodiversity. After habitat destruction, illegal trade and conservation offences are among the most significant dangers faced by endangered species. The impact of this illegal trade on the survival of the species underlines the need for strong penalties, which reflect the harm caused, to be imposed at all levels within the judicial system for wildlife trade or conservation offences.
